Position title: Housing Advocate
Employment status: Full-Time
Reports to: Direct of Housing Programs

FSLA status: Non-exempt
Work site: Residential facility and off-site locations
Wage: $14-$15/hour

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide appropriate low-barrier, survivor centered, trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and accessible housing assessments, referrals, resources, case management, and supportive services for program participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of participants
  • Provide housing advocacy, crisis intervention, trauma-informed supportive services, case management, safety planning, and information and referral
  • Provide and arrange emergency and essential transportation
  • Determine program eligibility; conduct intakes and assessments; enter data; document service provision; and maintain daily case notes
  • Design and implement housing opportunity education and supportive groups
  • Identify program participants' strengths and weaknesses and assess self-sufficiency barriers
  • Assist participants develop individualized action plans utilizing matrixes
  • Build and maintain networks with local housing providers and support systems for participants
  • Conduct outreach for potential program participants
  • Establish partnerships with other service providers and represent Alternatives in the community
  • Provide back-up and additional support to other staff as part of a team approach
  • Monitor housing program operations assist with cleaning and maintenance of units when needed
  • Provide services in compliance with all funding contracts, including data and report preparation
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, homelessness, and child abuse
  • Knowledge case management, crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques
  • Skills in written documentation, interpersonal communication
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Ability to remain calm, use sound judgement, and determine specific action under pressure
  • Must hold a valid Indiana driver's license

Position title: Community Engagement Specialist

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist administrative and management staff in performance of duties while promoting Alternatives Incorporated's mission and philosophy in a culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, and accessible manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and disseminate diverse and inclusive donor communications
  • Assist in planning fundraising events, donor cultivation, and donor stewardship

Provide trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and accessible case management and supportive services for domestic and sexual violence survivors through advocacy, support, and continued assistance in achieving self-sufficiency.

  • Provide crisis intervention, trauma-informed supportive services, case management, safety planning, and information and referral
  • Provide and arrange emergency and essential transportation

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and accessible and supportive services for emergency shelter program participants by assisting in achieving self-sufficiency, responding to crisis telephone calls, and maintaining operations of the emergency shelter program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain the confidentiality of participants
  • Provide crisis intervention, trauma-informed supportive services, safety planning, and information and referral
  • Respond to crisis calls and make decisions about appropriateness of shelter for callers
  • Provide and arrange emergency and essential transportation
  • Conduct intakes and assessments; enter data; document service provision; and maintain daily case noted
  • Provide back-up and additional support to other staff as part of a team approach
  • Monitor shelter program operations; assist with cleaning and maintenance of facility when needed
  • Provide services in compliance with all funding contracts, including data and report preparation
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings
