Projects

Community Connection:
Community Connection is a program joining our agency with seven public agencies and the following local public agencies in a comprehensive effort to better protect Madison County's children: Local Fire Departments; Local Police Departments; Local School Corporations; and Madison County Office of Family and Children.

The program will provide both prevention and intervention services designed to ensure the safety of children. Prevention components of the project include the presentation of the Talking About Touching and Second Step programs in Alexandria and Elwood elementary schools.

The intervention component includes the designation of Anderson, Alexandria, and Elwood fire stations as safe havens for children experiencing a crisis ranging from being locked out of the house to being the victim of abuse. Prevention components of the project include the presentation of the Talking About Touching and Second Step programs in Anderson, Alexandria, and Elwood elementary schools.

Project HAVEN:
Project HAVEN was implemented in 1995 in collaboration with Community Hospital Anderson. The project's goals are to strengthen the healthcare provider's response to domestic violence. The project includes on-site advocacy, training and community awareness.

Work to End Domestic Violence:
"Work to End Domestic Violence" is a training project addressing domestic violence in the workplace. The project seeks to educate employers and employees about the dynamics and affects of domestic violence; strengthen support for domestic violence victims in the workplace; and build networking and referral opportunities.

There's No Room for Domestic Violence:
"There's No Room for Domestic Violence" began in 1998/99 as a collaborative project with Anderson Police Department. The project seeks to raise awareness of domestic violence, strengthen and develop partnerships among agencies providing domestic violence services and build a community-wide response to domestic violence. The project has expanded to include all of Madison County and Hancock County.
