Alternatives Incorporated (formerly Women's Alternatives, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) social service organization located in Anderson, Indiana. The agency was founded in 1978 by seven dedicated women who shared a common vision of peace in every home. Alternatives is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. We are one of thirty-one domestic violence shelters serving Indiana's ninety-two counties. The "heart" of the agency is an emergency shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. In addition to shelter, we offer transitional housing; 24-hour crisis support; case management; sexual assault intervention and treatment; professional training; and public education. Our agency's primary service area is the counties of Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Madison, Marion, and Tipton in East-Central Indiana. Our agency is funded primarily from federal and state grant sources, with support from the United Way and private contributions.
