Alternatives: First Capital Project
We did it, but we still need your help!
On a beautiful fall day in September 2004, the shovels were put into
the ground for the Ceremonial Groundbreaking of our new facility. Community
Hospital hosted the event and welcomed Alternatives to their campus.
Deanna Clouse, a domestic violence survivor and former resident at Alternatives,
provided remarks about the value of the shelter for victims. Deanna expressed
her gratitude to Alternatives for providing her safety and giving her
the tools to live her life free from violence.
The campaign committee has made great progress in raising $3.5 million
dollars, but we still need your help to raise $230,281 to allow us to burn the mortgage.
An Open Door Since 1978
Since November 1978, Central Indiana families in crisis have been able
to knock on Alternatives' door to find the services they need:
- Shelter from Domestic Violence
- Training for Job and Family Enhancement
- Networking within an Engaged Community
- Child Nurturing Systems
- Trauma Intervention for the Body, Mind and Spirit
Opening New Doors
Following an independent feasibility study, Alternatives' Board of Trustees
launched the campaign to construct a new 18,600 square foot facility
in November 2003. The construction of the facility was completed in October 2005. The facility, located on the campus of Community
Hospital Anderson, includes:
- 12 Residential Units (seven emergency housing and five transitional
housing)
- Private Intake and Counseling Rooms
- Robbie's Room Children's Center
- The Madison County Sexual Assault Treatment Center
- An Employment Training Center
- Municipal & County Police Substation
